Winton Homes & Cottages is a recognized leader in the manufacturing and distribution of engineered wood products and custom homes and cottages. For over 30 years we have built high quality homes for families. More recently our business has expanded in the production of engineered housing components including roof trusses, walls and floor systems, many of which are used in commercial as well as residential applications.

The Opportunity – Design Technician – Term Position (12 Months)
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a keen appetite to grow their design career in the residential building industry. As a key member of Winton’s design team, the Design Technician will have a strong focus on our home package plan design. This role will be a 12-months term contract position with the possibility of extension.
This role provides quality and timely service to internal and external customers, and works collaboratively with other departments to provide solutions for technical matters. Among preparing home plan designs, you will also be responsible for reviewing design requirements and determining the best design option for the building project as well as communicating updates to the design team and stakeholders on a regular basis.
As the successful candidate, you demonstrate the ability to produce all aspects of home plans as required for BCBC permits and construction details. You are familiar with the provincial and national building codes (BCBC, NBC) and have an understanding of the structural elements within a building. You demonstrate a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. A diploma or certificate in Building/Engineering Technology and experience with Autodesk Revit are considered assets. Knowledge or experience in the building and construction industry is also considered an asset.
