Greg Stewart

President

Greg is a third-generation leader of Sinclar. Born and raised in Prince George, Greg is the grandson of co-founder Bob Stewart. To Greg, Sinclar is not just a business to grow but a way to strengthen BC’s economy and benefit the communities in which we live, work and play. 

A Chemical Engineering graduate of the University of British Columbia, Greg began his career working at Teck Cominco’s metallurgical facility in Trail, BC. After completing an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in 2005, Greg returned to Prince George to work for the family business. Greg spent his first three years leading Winton Homes, where he gained valuable experience in the retail and engineering side of the business before transitioning to lead the company as president in 2009.

In addition to his role at Sinclar, Greg serves as Chair of the Council of Forest Industries and Wood WORKS! BC provincial steering committee, a Governor at the University of Northern British Columbia, a Director on the Board of the BC Lumber Trade Council, and Past Chair for BC Wood.

Greg lives with his wife and two daughters in Prince George, British Columbia.

Betty Ann Shiels B. Comm, CA, FCA

Board Chair

Betty Ann is a long-time resident of Prince George. She obtained her B. Comm from the University of Alberta in 1985 and began her career with the Prince George office of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells that same spring. Betty Ann received her Chartered Accountant designation in 1988. Betty Ann was an Assurance and Advisory partner with Deloitte for 20 years until her retirement in 2018 including the role of Managing Partner for the Prince George office the last six years of her career.

Betty Ann has served on the boards of Prince George Yellowhead Rotary, UNBC Pension Plan, Progress Prince George, PG Activators Society, PG CA Association and Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. She was a part-time instructor at CNC early on in her career. In addition, Betty Ann is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow for Rotary and a Fellow Chartered Accountant.

Gordon Andersen

Director

Gordon is a long-time Prince George community member and son of co-founder Ivan Andersen. Gordon has been a part of the family business since 1980, starting in the sales team and growing into successive leadership roles. As the current Corporate Secretary on the Sinclar board, Gordon brings a depth of knowledge in corporate governance and operations, having served as Director since the board’s inception. Gordon holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and currently serves as President of Excel Transportation Inc. and Ivan Andersen Holdings Ltd.

W. G. (Bill) Stewart

Director

Bill, son of co-founder Bob Stewart, first joined the family business in sales and accounting following a career in business education and silviculture. After gaining progressive experience at Sinclar in marketing, transportation, and general management, Bill took on the role of President from 1998 to 2009. Bill remains a key part of Sinclar’s culture and is often heard saying: “the greatest asset of the company is the people.” Bill and his wife have raised their family in Prince George. He is actively involved in various aspects of community life, including serving on the board of the Prince George Community Foundation and volunteering with the Salvation Army.

Erik Andersen

Director

Erik is a third generation Sinclar family member, grandson of Ivan Andersen. He was born and raised in northern BC, gaining experience on the mill floor and studying forestry. He has a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management from the University of Northern BC, is a Registered Professional Forester, and has a Forest Resource Technology Diploma. Erik continues to live in Prince George with his wife, son and daughter, and is a strong supporter and volunteer for youth sports in the community.
